Yes — and more so than most wood furniture. Greenington uses only mature Moso bamboo harvested at a minimum of 5 years old, which is critical for maximum density. Classic bamboo is 20% harder than red oak; Greenington’s exotic bamboo process produces material that is 100% harder than red oak. No plywood, particle board, or MDF is used in any piece.

Maintain relative humidity between 40–55% to prevent checking or warping. Use coasters and pads to prevent damage from heat, moisture, or heavy objects. Do not use wax or polish. Clean spills immediately with a dabbing motion using a soft cloth. For routine cleaning, use a soft cloth with a gentle cleaner designed for wood furniture. Avoid placing furniture directly in front of heat vents or wood-burning stoves, and never place bamboo furniture in direct sunlight day after day.

Each bamboo culm is individually selected by the local farmer and harvested by hand, preserving the ecosystem of the native bamboo forest and leaving the root system intact so new shoots grow the following year. Greenington does not use clear-cutting. The entire bamboo culm is used in manufacturing, wasting nothing — including the sawdust, which generates steam for the dry kiln room and press machine. The brand is also a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and ISO 14001-certified.

Greenington bamboo furniture is generally not recommended for outdoor use, as it is susceptible to damage from exposure to moisture, sunlight, and other outdoor elements. While bamboo is strong and durable, it can become weak and brittle over time if exposed to harsh outdoor conditions. For covered patios with controlled humidity it may be acceptable short-term, but Greenington does not warranty outdoor use.

Greenington offers five finishes across its collections: Sable, Wheat, Black Walnut, Oiled Walnut, and Tiger. The caramelized finishes are produced by heating the bamboo fibers, which deepens the natural color without stains or dyes.
